- Q.What is the temperature range of
the Lara™ system?
- A. Lara™ is designed to operate from -70C
to +200C.This is however limited to the cooling or heating power
of your thermoregulator, ambient temperature and liquid load,
(for advice of the selection of a suitable thermoregulator please
contact our technical support department).
- Q. Can Lara™ be used under vacuum
or inert atmospheres?
- A. Yes. Lara™ has been designed and tested
to operate under vacuum or inert atmospheres.
- Q. Can Lara be used as a pressure vessel?
- A. No. Lara™ has not been designed as
a pressurised reactor. We recommend the use of metal or glass
lined metal pressure reactors for this type of work.
- Q. How many Expansion-Hubs can be used with
Lara™?
- A. The architecture of the Lara™ hardware
has been designed in such a way that there is no practical limit
to the number of Expansion-Hubs that can be used. This provides unlimited
connectivity to the Lara™ core system.
- Q. Can Lara™ fit into a standard
fume cupboard?
- A. Yes. Lara™ is designed specifically
for fume cupboard use. It can be either bench mounted or the base
removed and mounted on existing fume cupboard scaffolding.
- Q. What tools do I need to set-up and
operate the Lara™ system?
- A. Lara™ is designed to be tool-free.
Everything including exchanging reactors, vessel lids, stirrer
guide, to sealing the unit for vacuum operation can be done by
a quick, easy hand-tight procedure.
Software Anwers
- Q. Does the Lara™ software allow
real unattended operation?
- A. Yes. The Lara™ software features comprehensive
alarms and failsafe condition for each device that has been configured.
This allows safe and unattended operation increasing productivity
and throughput.
- Q. How are new devices configured in
the software?
- A. New devices are easily configured under the
‘administrator user level’ using a simple wizard that
guides you through the process.
- Q. How are new control loops configured
in the Lara™ software?
- A. New control loops are configured under the
‘administrator user level’ using a simple wizard that
guides you through the process.
- Q. Can I export my data into third
party software like Excel?
- A. Yes. Lara™ will log all experimental
parameters to give a complete history of the experiment performed.
This data is saved in a convenient CSV format that can be open
and read by most data analysis programs.
- Q. Can I save my experimental recipes/profiles?
- A. Yes it is possible to save any recipe
and/or export recipes between Lara™ units, ensuring exact
reproducibility of your experimental profile.
